Typically, there are only 11 federal holidays, but this year, Inauguration Day makes the list. However, it is only a holiday for federal employees in Washington, D.C., and certain federal offices. According to the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, New Year's Day is considered to be one of 11 federal holidays throughout the year, while New Year's Eve is not classified as a federal holiday. Most know Christmas Day is a holiday in the U.S., but what about Christmas Eve? Turns out, it is not actually a federal holiday.
