Thanksgiving 2024 & New Year's Day 2025. This page shows events which have declared that they are staging an event on Thanksgiving and/or New Year’s Day. All parkruns on New Year’s Day are at the normal Saturday start time - 9am in England and Wales, 9:30 in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland. Other times for other countries. No New Year’s Day parkruns are on at other times. I’m unsure where you’re seeing parkruns starting at 10:30. A means the event will take place, a means the event is not taking place. We will be holding an extra parkrun at 10:30 am on New Year's Day. This is the one day of the year you can legitimately run two parkruns in one day. Both Bedford and Huntingdon will be holding events at 9:00 am so it will be possible to run two events and receive two run credits (as long as you drive carefully between them). For these reasons, we have taken the decision to remove the option for New Year’s Day doubles. We will still allow events to host an additional parkrun on 1 January, at their usual start time. Whilst we appreciate this might be disappointing news to some, we are still committed to retaining 1 January as an optional additional parkrunday. Christmas Day 2024 & New Year's Day 2025. Since 25th December 2004, Bushy parkrun has held an event on Christmas Day and following this tradition, each country can nominate one special day per year on which they can stage events. One is New Year’s Day (January 1st) in all countries; the other is a ‘Special Day’ for each individual country - these are listed below. The first of these dates are country-specific: for example in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, these special editions take place on Christmas Day and the Americans choose Thanksgiving in November. Over the years, additional events could be held on special days across the festive period including Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve and for a while it was possible to participate in up to three parkruns on New Year's Day. We’ve seen sustained growth over the last few years with a plateau in mid 2023, perhaps caused by some of regulars moving to our new neighbors at Canton Lower Rouge Trail parkrun and ITC Community Sports parkrun. At our extra New Year’s Day parkrun (event number 212), 46 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom six were UK visitors to Oslo, taking part in Tøyen parkrun for the first time. With a heavy snowfall overnight, the pavements, roads and public transport made it quite an adventure just to get to parkrun. If you'd like to get your New Year off to a healthy start, The Great Field will be hosting a New Years Day parkrun. Start times for both days are 9am.
