The Altwiener Market is the oldest Christmas market in Vienna, having originated as early as 1772! This market is held on Freyungplatz, in the shadow of the Schottenkirche church, and is the smallest market in central Vienna. This market does have a large Christmas tree at the far end, and a stage with a set program.
