Here’s where to go: New Year’s Market Schönbrunn Palace: Runs daily until January 6th from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. Floridsdorf market: Open from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm. The Altwiener Market is the oldest Christmas market in Vienna, having originated as early as 1772! This market is held on Freyungplatz, in the shadow of the Schottenkirche church, and is the smallest market in central Vienna. This market does have a large Christmas tree at the far end, and a stage with a set program.
